Flowers

Those who know me well, know that i love flowers, totally obsessed! I mean, what’s not to love about these bright, consummate, precious and beautiful creatures? Not only do they offer us visual and emotional well-being they have an amazing scent & appeal history as well. Let’s dive right into these mind blowing flower facts.

Sunflowers

Back then, they were used to save lives. Sunflower stems were used to fill life jackets. Sunflower rafts were used to clean up water contamination from the Chernobyl disaster, their roots remove up to 95% radioactivity by drawing the contaminants out of the water. Interesting right?

Broccoli

I am today's years old when i found out that broccoli is a flower! We do not think of broccoli as flower nor do most florist display it in their floral cooler. However, broccoli is harvested before the flower buds fully open. It is an edible green plant in the cabbage family, whose large flower head is eaten as a vegetable.

Zzzzs with Gerbera daisies

If you want to get a better sleep at night, get yourself some gerbera daisies! Place them next to your bed, they emit oxygen and absorb carbon monoxide and toxins at night, it is helpful especially to anyone suffering from sleep apnea.

Roses
Roses are related to apples, peaches, raspberries, cherries, plums, nectarines, pears and almonds. Roses have what is called rose hips which are a berry fruit in some roses. Rose hips are used to make jellies or teas as they are loaded with Vitamin C.

Flowers have so many hidden attributes, Some flowers such as the Lotus have been used medicinally for thousand of years. Juice from bluebell flowers was used historically to glue. Cigarettes are made from the nicotiana flowers.

Tulip bulbs

were more valuable than gold gold in Holland in the 1600s. Some family also used it in place of onion. They were eaten beacause of hunger and food shortage. Many kept hunger at bay with tulip bulbs.
